How do I sync RootLogic with our Google Calendar?

Google Calendar sync is a two-way connection — appointments booked in RootLogic show on Google Calendar, and blocks added directly on Google Calendar prevent double-booking in RootLogic.

1
Get the doctor's Google Calendar share before you start
Google Calendar sync requires the practice owner or physician to share their Google Calendar with the RootLogic system. Before starting the setup process, confirm that you have the doctor's Google Workspace email address and that they are prepared to authorize the connection. See the related article on what information you'll need.
2
Go to Settings and open the Calendars section
In RootLogic, click the Settings gear icon in the left sidebar. From the Settings menu, find and click Calendars. You'll see your existing calendars listed here along with configuration options.
3
Open the calendar you want to sync and click "Integrations"
Click on the specific calendar you want to connect to Google (for example, "In-Person Consultation — Dr. Smith"). Inside the calendar settings, look for an Integrations tab or a Google Calendar Sync section. Click it to begin the connection process.
4
Authorize the Google account and grant calendar access
Click Connect Google Calendar (or Authorize). A Google sign-in window will open — log in with the doctor's or practice's Google Workspace account. Grant the requested calendar access permissions. Once authorized, you'll be returned to RootLogic with the connection confirmed.
5
Select which Google Calendar to sync with
After authorization, RootLogic will list the Google Calendars available on that account. Select the specific calendar that represents the doctor's appointment schedule (usually named after the doctor or labeled "Appointments"). Save the integration. From this point on, bookings in RootLogic will appear on Google Calendar and vice versa.
Important: Google Calendar sync must be set up separately for each calendar in RootLogic (in-person, virtual, procedure). If the doctor uses a single Google Calendar for all appointments, you'll link each RootLogic calendar to that same Google Calendar. Contact your VMMG account manager if you're unsure how to configure this for your practice's specific setup.
Pro tip: After setup, create a test booking to confirm the sync is working — book a test appointment in RootLogic and verify it appears on the Google Calendar within 1–2 minutes. Then delete the test appointment from RootLogic (not directly from Google Calendar) to confirm two-way deletion also works.
