RootLogic Booking
Booking

What's the difference between booking from the Opportunity Pipeline vs. from the Contact Page?

Both paths book the same appointment — the choice is just about where you happen to be in RootLogic when the patient says yes.

1
Booking from the Opportunity Pipeline — best when you're working the pipeline
If you're reviewing your leads in the Opportunities board and a lead calls you back, you can click straight into their pipeline card and book without leaving the pipeline view. Click the card to open it, find the Appointments section, and click + New Appointment. This is the fastest path when you're already in the pipeline doing your daily lead review.
2
Booking from the Contact Page — best for returning patients or direct inbound calls
If someone calls the front desk directly and you search for them in Contacts, book from there. Go to Contacts, search by name or phone, open their contact record, and click + New Appointment in the Appointments section. This works best for patients you've spoken with before, or when the person calling isn't currently an active opportunity on the pipeline.
3
The result is the same either way
Whether you book from the pipeline card or from the contact record, the exact same thing happens: the appointment is created, the patient receives their confirmation text/email, the opportunity card moves to Consult Booked, and the value updates to $500. There's no functional difference — just a workflow preference based on where you started.
4
What to do if the contact has no open opportunity
If you're on the contact page and there's no open opportunity attached to that person (for example, a returning patient from years ago), you may need to create a new opportunity first before booking. Click + Add Opportunity on the contact record, assign it to the right pipeline and stage, then proceed with booking. This ensures the pipeline value and automation fire correctly.
Pro tip: Get comfortable with both paths. Booking from Contacts is especially useful if a patient calls back after their opportunity was cleaned up from the pipeline — you can find their permanent contact record and start fresh without losing their history.
