What hours are considered "after hours" for the chat widget?

After-hours mode is determined by the business hours set in your RootLogic account — and keeping those hours accurate is what makes the widget work correctly.

After hours = outside your configured business hours
RootLogic defines "after hours" as any time that falls outside the official business hours set in your account settings. So if your practice is configured as open Monday through Friday, 9am–5pm, then the after-hours widget is active any evening, overnight, and all weekend. This is not a fixed schedule — it's derived entirely from your account's settings.

Find your current business hours setting
In RootLogic, click the Settings gear icon in the left sidebar, then navigate to Business Info or Business Hours. Your current configured hours are displayed there. These are the hours the chat widget uses to determine when to switch into after-hours capture mode.

Keep your hours updated when the practice schedule changes
If your practice changes its hours — seasonal schedule, holiday closures, adding Saturday hours — update the Business Hours setting in RootLogic right away. If the settings are outdated, the widget may be showing a "live chat" prompt when no one is available to respond, which creates a bad experience for potential patients.

Contact Vitality if the hours need to be changed and you're unsure how
If updating business hours is outside your account permissions, or you're unsure whether the change will affect other automations, don't guess — contact your Vitality account manager through the RootLogic portal support request form. They can confirm what impact a business hours change will have on your workflows before you make the edit.

Pro tip: If your practice sees a lot of weekend website visitors — common for hair restoration, since people research on weekends — it's worth knowing that those Saturday and Sunday chat submissions all queue up for your Monday morning follow-up call.
