How do I filter my chat messages to find a specific conversation?

The Conversations inbox can get busy fast — learn how to use filters and search so you can find the right thread in seconds instead of scrolling through everything.

1
Open the Conversations tab
Click the speech bubble icon labeled "Conversations" in the left sidebar. This is your unified inbox — it shows every SMS, email, and call from every contact in one place.
2
Use the search bar at the top of the inbox
Type a contact's name, phone number, or any keyword into the search bar at the top of the conversation list. RootLogic will instantly filter down to matching threads as you type.
3
Apply channel filters to narrow by message type
Click the filter icon (funnel) near the top of the inbox. You can filter by channel — SMS, Email, Calls, or Facebook Messenger — so if you know the conversation was over text, you can hide everything else.
4
Filter by status: Unread, Read, or Starred
The same filter panel lets you show only Unread conversations or only ones you've starred. Use "Unread" every morning to see who came in overnight and needs a response today.
5
Go directly to the contact record if you already know the person
If you already know the contact's name, it's often faster to search in the Contacts tab and click through to their record — then click the "Send Message" button there. All their message history lives on the contact record too.
Pro tip: Star conversations with active hot leads so you can filter to just those at a glance. One click on the star icon next to any thread will pin it to your Starred view.
