How do I see the full SMS conversation history with a contact?
RootLogic keeps a complete thread of every text — automated or manual — sent to and from each lead, so anyone on your team can pick up a conversation without starting from scratch.
1
Go to the Conversations tab
Click Conversations in the left sidebar. This is your unified inbox showing all active threads. Each row represents one contact, and the preview shows the most recent message in the thread.
2
Search for the contact by name or phone number
Use the search bar at the top of the Conversations panel to type the lead's name or phone number. Click their thread to open the full conversation view.
3
Read the full SMS thread — automated and manual messages are both shown
The conversation thread shows every text ever exchanged with this contact in chronological order — messages sent by automation (labeled with the automation name or "automated") and messages sent manually by your staff. Scroll up to see older messages. You can tell automated messages apart from manual ones by the sender label.
4
Filter by SMS if the thread shows multiple channels
If a contact has both texts and emails, the conversation view may show all channels together. Look for a channel filter or tabs at the top of the thread to filter by SMS only. This clears email entries so you see just the text history.
5
Alternatively, view SMS history from the contact record
Open the contact from the Contacts tab and click the Conversations section or the speech bubble icon on their record. This takes you directly to the same thread, already filtered to that specific contact.
Pro tip: Before calling a lead back, pull up their SMS thread first. Knowing what automated messages they already received — and whether they replied — lets you start the call with context instead of repeating what they've already read.
