How do I search for a specific contact by name, phone, or email?
Whether someone just called in, you're preparing for a consult, or you need to pull up a past lead, finding a contact quickly is a daily task — here's the fastest way to do it.
1
Click "Contacts" in the left sidebar
The Contacts section is the person icon in the left navigation menu. Click it to open the full contacts list. This is your master database of everyone who has ever interacted with your practice.
2
Type in the search bar at the top of the list
There's a search bar directly above the contacts list. Type any part of the person's name, their full phone number (or just the last 4 digits), or their email address. RootLogic filters results in real time as you type — you don't need to hit Enter.
3
Click the contact's name from the results to open their record
Once you see the right person in the filtered list, click their name to open their full contact record. From there you can view all their details, message history, pipeline opportunities, call recordings, and notes.
4
If search returns no results, try a different field
If searching by name finds nothing, try the phone number — sometimes a contact was entered with a different name spelling or just a first name. If the phone number also returns nothing, the person may not yet be in the system and you'd need to create a new contact manually.
Pro tip: You can also search for contacts from the global search bar at the very top of the RootLogic interface (the magnifying glass icon in the top header). This searches across contacts, conversations, and opportunities simultaneously — useful when you're not sure which section to look in.
