How do I send an email to a contact through RootLogic?

Sending emails directly through RootLogic keeps every message logged on the contact record — so nothing gets lost in a personal inbox and the whole team can see the conversation history.

1
Find the contact you want to email
Click "Contacts" in the left sidebar, then use the search bar to find the person by name, phone, or email address. Click their name to open the full contact record.
2
Click "Send Email" on the contact record
On the contact's record, look for the action buttons near their name at the top — you'll see icons for SMS, Email, and Call. Click the envelope icon to open the email composer.
3
Write your subject line and message body
Fill in the Subject field and type your message in the body area. You can also use the template picker (the document icon) if your practice has saved email templates — this saves time for common messages like appointment reminders or consultation confirmations.
4
Confirm the "From" address and hit Send
Check that the From field shows your practice's connected email address, then click the blue Send button. The email will be delivered and a copy will appear immediately in the contact's Conversations timeline.
Important: If the contact's email address is missing or incorrect, the Send button will be grayed out or the email will bounce. Double-check their email on file before sending.
Pro tip: You can also send emails from the Conversations tab — open any existing conversation thread, click the channel selector at the bottom of the composer (it may say "SMS"), switch it to "Email," and send from there. The thread stays unified in one place.
