How do I add additional phone numbers to a contact?
Some leads give you a cell phone when they fill out a form but prefer to be reached on a work line — storing all their numbers in one record means you always have the right way to reach them.
1
Open the contact's record
Click "Contacts" in the left sidebar, search for the person by name or their existing phone number, and click their name to open the contact record.
2
Find the phone number section and click "Add Phone"
In the contact details section, you'll see the primary phone number listed. Look for a small "+ Add Phone" link or a plus icon just below the existing number. Click it to add a second phone number field.
3
Enter the additional number and select the type
Type the new phone number into the field. You'll usually see a dropdown to label it as Mobile, Home, Work, or Other — choose the one that matches. This label helps your team know which number to try first during follow-up calls.
4
Save the contact record
Click Save (or the check mark if it's an inline edit). The new number will appear alongside the primary number on the contact record. When making calls from RootLogic, you can choose which number to dial from the call options.
Important: Automated SMS sequences send to the primary phone number on the contact record — not all numbers. If the lead wants texts to go to a different number, update the primary number to the one they prefer, and move the old number to a secondary field.
Pro tip: If a contact has both a personal cell and a spouse's number, add both. Hair restoration consultations are often a joint decision — sometimes the spouse is actually the better person to reach for scheduling. A quick note on the record about which number is which saves time during follow-up calls.
