How do I update a contact's email address?

Keeping email addresses current ensures your automated sequences and manual emails actually reach the person — a wrong email means missed reminders, missed appointment confirmations, and a lead that falls through the cracks.

1
Open the contact's record
Click "Contacts" in the left sidebar, search for the person by name or phone number, and click their name to open their full record.
2
Find the Email field in the contact details section
On the contact record, look for the contact details section — it's usually displayed on the left side or in a details panel showing name, phone, email, and address. The Email field will show the current address on file, or be blank if none was captured.
3
Click on the Email field to edit it
Click directly on the email address (or the empty field if there isn't one yet). It will become an editable text field. Clear the old address and type the new one, or type the address fresh if it was blank.
4
Save the change
Click the save button (or click outside the field — some fields auto-save in RootLogic). The updated email address will appear immediately and all future emails and automated sequences will use the new address going forward.
Important: Updating the email address only affects future messages. Any emails that were already sent to the old address are in the contact's Activity log and won't be resent. If an automated sequence already failed to deliver due to a wrong address, those emails were skipped and will not retry automatically.
