How do I set a follow-up task/reminder for a specific contact?
Tasks are how you make sure a lead doesn't slip through — set one any time a contact says "call me Thursday" or "I'll talk to my spouse and get back to you."
1
Open the contact record
Click Contacts in the left sidebar. Search for the lead by name or phone number and click their name to open their record.
2
Click the "Tasks" tab and then "+ Add Task"
Inside the contact record, click the Tasks tab near the top. Then click the + Add Task button to open the task creation form.
3
Give the task a clear title and set the due date
In the task title field, write something specific and actionable — not just "Follow up" but "Call back Thursday per request — talked to spouse." Set the due date to the exact day you need to act. Vague tasks get ignored; specific ones get done.
4
Assign to yourself (or another staff member) and save
Use the Assigned To field to assign the task to yourself or to a specific colleague who will own the follow-up. Click Save. The task now appears on that person's task list and on this contact's Tasks tab.
Pro tip: Set the task before you hang up the phone — not after. While you're still on the call, you have the exact date and commitment fresh in your mind. After you hang up, it's easy to think "I'll remember" and then not set the task at all.
