DND stands for Do Not Disturb — enabling it on a contact completely stops all outbound communication from RootLogic to that person, both automated sequences and manual messages.
1
DND = a hard stop on ALL outbound messages and texts
When a contact has DND enabled, RootLogic will not send them any text messages or emails — not the automated 45-day nurture sequence, not any bulk broadcasts, and not any manual texts or emails you try to send from the Conversations tab. The block is total for those channels.
2
DND does NOT block phone calls
You can still call a contact who is on DND. The setting only applies to outbound text and email communication. If a contact asks not to be texted but is okay with calls, DND is the right setting to use — just note this in the contact record so colleagues know to call instead of text.
3
DND is different from STOP and from blocking
A STOP reply opts someone out of SMS only — automated texts stop but you can still email them and call them. Blocking prevents a specific phone number from calling into your practice line. DND is the broadest setting: it shuts off all automated and manual texts and emails. Use it when someone has explicitly asked to stop receiving all messages from your practice.
Important: Once DND is on, the contact will receive zero outbound texts or emails — including appointment reminders. If you enable DND on someone who has a consult booked, make sure they've received their confirmation by another means.
